Embolden is pleased to share our submission to the consultation for the Second Action Plan under the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022–2032. At this midway point in the National Plan, the next phase of reform must focus on creating the conditions necessary for known solutions to be implemented consistently, effectively and at scale.
This includes:
– involving specialists and people with lived experience in decision-making
– investment in specialist services, leadership and workforce capability
– integrated, victim-survivor-centred service systems
– community-led, place-based models of service delivery
– supports and accountability for people who use violence
– supporting children and young people in their own right
– shared accountability for reform implementation and outcomes
– modernising key national frameworks
– transparency about reform progress, investment and outcomes
The goal of the National Plan is meaningful and sustained reductions in gender-based violence. Achieving this will depend on governments’ willingness to invest in robust, integrated and responsive systems that support specialist expertise, enable innovation and place victim-survivors’ needs at the centre of service design.
