In the lead up to Economic Abuse Awareness Day, this session will explore the role of structural economic equity in preventing economic abuse.
The Centre for Women’s Economic Safety is facilitating two events in the lead up to Australia’s inaugural Economic Abuse Awareness Day, 26th November.
Domestic economic abuse causes economic insecurity. And economic insecurity can increase vulnerability to economic abuse. This session will explore some of the levers available to policy and lawmakers to address women’s economic insecurity to help prevent domestic economic abuse. This session will cover lessons from survivors and experts, what government and industry can do, and the role of structural economic equity.
The discussion will canvas existing and potential ways to reduce the social, structural, and systemic barriers to women’s economic safety and activities that increase women’s economic opportunity.
