June Update: Addressing funding to meet critical and increasing demand

Embolden addressed the 2025-26 State Budget announcement this month, highlighting the budget’s failure to respond to SA’s domestic, family and sexual violence crisis. While we acknowledge the welcome addition of funds for the northern and southern domestic violence prevention and recovery hubs, the budget does not respond to the critical and increasing demand for crisis domestic and family violence services statewide.

The funding announcements of $26.1 million over 5 years and $5.7 million over two years for specialist DFSV services maintains but does not increase or expand services for South Australians at risk of, experiencing, or recovering from violence. Read Embolden’s full statement here.

Embolden is one of six partner organisations across Victoria, the NT and SA participating in the innovative new Safety Measures program, launched on the 18th of June. A multi-year program, Safety Measures will measure specialist domestic and family violence service need, accessibility and effectiveness, and aim to drive systemic change to better support victim-survivors of domestic and family violence across the country. Also last week, Embolden was really pleased to facilitate a panel discussion of specialists working with men using violence at the Child and Family Support System Statewide Practitioner Forum (see photo below), focusing on engaging dads and men who use violence in the home. It was a powerful forum and we look forward to continuing these important discussions.
