April Update: Strengthening connections

This month, Embolden focused on strengthening relationships across the sector and engaging with the critical work of regional services supporting those impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.

Embolden was pleased to gather on Barngarla Country for this month’s April Sector Member Meeting, hosted by Yarredi Services in Port Lincoln, with many members joining online from across the state. Hearing from those delivering frontline services in regional areas reinforced the vital role they play in responding to local needs—often through innovative, community-driven partnerships and philanthropic support.

Embolden has also had the pleasure of welcoming four new Associate Members so far in 2025: Shine SA, Victim Support Services, Uniting Communities, and Neami. Strengthening collaboration across the sector is a key priority for Embolden, and we’re excited about the shared work ahead with these organisations.

Earlier this month, General Manager Mary Leaker attended the launch of The Untangle Project, founded by Anna Martin. This initiative offers support to women impacted by gambling harm—an issue that frequently intersects with domestic and family violence, particularly through economic abuse. Embolden also provided input on the State Government’s Draft Liquor Licensing (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill, which seeks to reduce alcohol-related harm in our communities. You can read Mary Leaker’s op-ed in InDaily here
