WESNET’s Technology Safety Plan: A Guide for Survivors and Front-Line Workers

WESNET’s Tech Safety Team has developed a Technology Safety Plan specifically for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. It provides general tips and suggestions for victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and trafficking in situations of technology abuse.

Navigating online abuse and stalking can be stressful and possibly dangerous, so WESNET always recommends victim-survivors to not do this by themselves. It is really important for victims to work alongside a domestic violence service to discuss their options, so it is encouraged that practitioners deliver this message to their clients as well.

This document contains general information about safety planning with victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and trafficking in situations of technology abuse. As an overview, this document provides general tips and suggestions. For more specific safety planning strategies, please consult one of our safety planning guides to a particular technology or situation and please contact a local support worker/victim advocate who can help you with a more thorough safety plan.
