On Friday 25 November 2022 Spirit of Women, City of Onkaparinga and the Seaford Ripple working group are hosting a community event to officially launch their third ripple location – Seaford Ripple – Place of Courage, a public commemorative artwork to victims of domestic and family violence. The Seaford ‘Ripple’ site will provide a safe space for the community to gather, reflect, grieve, connect, and heal.
This project is part of the Ripples Across South Australia project which publicly acknowledges the impact and long-term ongoing trauma of domestic and family violence in our community and pays tribute to the many lives lost. It is a powerful symbol in creating change to bring about a peaceful and unified community.
The free event focuses on bringing together community, particularly families and will include a range of speakers, on-the-day activations, free food, music, games, stalls, and the formal unveiling of the artwork.
As a symbol of a world free from domestic and family violence, the event will also fill the park with doves on sticks. Spirit of Women encourage you to display their promotional dove at your workplace, or download their hope dove here, write your message (can be anything that you want to say about DFV), and bring it along.
