Embolden Sector Member, Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council Aboriginal Corporation, have been awarded funding as part of the government’s ‘Safe, Respected and Free from Violence’ Primary Prevention Initiative. The funding will support NPY Women’s Council to deliver multi-day gatherings focusing on healing work, Anangu-led trauma awareness and mediation training.
The funding allocated to NPY Women’s Council is a part of the $5.1m package to support the work done by the Northern Territory domestic, family and sexual violence sector, and support the establishment of a new reform office. A new Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Interagency Coordination and Reform Office (DFSV-ICRO) has also been created to facilitate and oversee the distribution of the grants which will be invested within three years among the funding recipients.
