Compulsory public service training focused on stopping men’s violence against women

SA’s 100,000 public servants will undertake gender equality training to help prevent men’s violence against women, in a move campaigners have hailed as a breakthrough, The Advertiser reports.

To mark the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink today announced compulsory gender equality training for all South Australian public sector full and part-time employees, to be led by Equal Opportunity Commissioner Niki Vincent.

Embolden welcomes this initative, with a statement from Co-Chair Susie Smith:

The State Government is leading the way and this will support a reduction in violence against women and we fully support that.
